Return to Nature
Here in the southern hemisphere spring has welcomed in warmer weather and a delightful array of blooming flowers for us to enjoy. The outdoors is practically calling for us to explore it. On a mid morning walk you can catch the delightfully sweet smell of wisteria, with its violet hued blooms, honey bees dancing among them. A sense of calm overcomes you as you’re hugged by a warm breeze, it sends a message directly to your central nervous system: relax.
This kind of experience, connectedness, not only grounds your energy it also elevates stress, lowers blood cortisol levels, your pulse and blood pressure. Spring gives birth to new possibilities outside as well as in. When we connect to the natural rhythms of nature we can be inspired in our own lives: to grow, to change, to be reborn.
Taking the practice further a lot of people like to walk barefoot, sole to soil. The energy of the earth will move through you like a current, anchoring your energy and realigning it with the earths. It’s a great way to reduce anxiety and to clear our minds that are so often polluted by the debris of everyday stresses. Being overly stimulated by our work, relationships, kids, projects, meetings, deadlines and so on can take a toll on our health and learning to priorities time out, to reconnect to nature, does a whole lot of good to undo the mental mess we so often get caught in. So take the time to experience what nature has to offer, trust me, you won’t regret it.
